Course abstract

Water supply & sewerage engineering networks are with primary importance for each building where people are living, remain of any longer time or make economic activities. In course student should get knowledge about history and development of water supply and sewerage systems, content of these modern systems, problems of sewage utilization and solving of them as well, constructions of devices and working principles of them, required project documentation for realization

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledge - familiar with theoretical issues related to water supply and sewerage systems. Course work should be developed. Exam. Skills - are able to make the selection of water supply and sewerage system elements. Exam. Competence - is able to calculate, evaluate the consequences of possible incorrect operation of systems, is able to plan the sequence of system construction works, safety, perform quality control. Exam.

1 Short survey of water supply and sewerage systems history. Water abstraction sources.
2 Water quality parameters, possibilities improving them
3 Elements of water supply system, functions of them
4 Water consumption norms. Hydraulic calculations of network.
5 Water network pressures. Regulating devices and facilities.
6 Water transportation devices
7 Pipe and facilities materials
8 Water supply for agriculture and animal production.
9 Elements of sewerage systems, functions of them
10 Calculation of sewage flow
11 Hydraulic calculations of sewerage network
12 Pumping of sewage flows
13 Mechanical sewage purification facilities
14 Biological sewage purification facilities
15 Rainwater sewerage systems, purification of them
16 Required project documentations of water supply and sewerage networks

Requirements for awarding credit points

Student should obtain successful rating in examination

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Student should acquire sufficient knowledge using presentations given in lectures and study of additional professional literature.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

Attendace of lectures no less than 60%, successful rating in examination – no less than 3 points in 10 point system
