Course abstract

Students get acquainted with the EU and Republic of Latvia legislation in the field of construction, normative documents on construction, BIM standard, BIM manual, BIM management.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledge: is able to name, explain and apply legislation in the field of construction, normative acts of construction, including BIM, processes of construction works, technologies, understanding of planning, organization and management of construction works on site. - 1. Test. • Skills: are able to develop the project organization (execution) project sections (calendar of works, general plan of works, technological scheme of construction works and quality assurance plan), acquired skills in organization of construction works on construction sites, understanding of BIM supporting programs. Practical works. • Competence: is able to develop a project of planning and management of construction process. Able to comply with construction technology compliant performance technology, to prepare and execute executive documentation, as well as to determine labor protection measures. Able to supervise the construction process, to perform the technical and quality control of the completed work, to keep track of the completed works, to check the covered works, to control the executive documentation. 2. Test. Test.

2. Coordination skills required by BIM specialist, digital model, joint teamwork.
3. Design skills needed by a BIM specialist - sample documentation, pre-modeling.
4. Engineering - 2E Interoperability, MEP / Structure interoperability.
5. BIM experts competence in information management and object development. Organizational competence. 1. Test.
6. BIM Management in the digital age.
7. BIM Project Implementation Plan. BIM protocols and organizational standards.
8. Collaboration practice. Quality control modeling. IBIM Management Strategies.
9. Implementation of BIM. The role of the BIM manager. BIM Implementation Plan.
10. Implementation strategies. Organization analysis. Environmental planning. Team building.
11. Sustainability and territory, renovation, the new ACS market, ECO efficiency. Plan for renovation.
12. Equipment management. Basics of of management. Tools. Operator activity. Volume of services. Support activity.
13. Functional program and BIM inventory.
14. Building Operation BIM.
15. AEC Industry products.
16. End of the course. Test.

Requirements for awarding credit points

The student must attend at least 85% of the class. Three tests must be written. Practical work should be developed. There must be submitted and defended the course project in accordance with the study program in the amount of 2 KP, passed the exam on the program issues. The student should regularly monitor changes in the legislation of the Republic of Latvia and the European Union in the field of construction. Regular work in the auditorium, included 3 test papers, report, test, final test with a mark.
The Test mark consists of:
1. Mark of the Test on the theoretical substance acquired in the study course;
2. Report and presentation
All tests must be counted.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Presentation on the topic of the report (at least 10 slides). Practical works.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

The assessment of the study course exam depends on the study course's test, the presentation and the cumulative assessment of the practical work.
The test mark is calculated as the arithmetic mean of the test work marks, presentation marks, and assessment of the test questions.
