Course abstract

The course introduces students to general knowledge on motor roads, parking places and bridges including specifications for design and construction. In tutorials students acquire the skills for use of road design methods and fulfil the ones by working out the course project.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledge: general knowledge on motor roads, skid resistance of road coverings, requirements of road safety, specifications for construction materials designed for roads and squares and knowledge on engineering structures. Skills: to perform the technical design of motor roads; to make a good choice of engineering structures needed for environmental protection. Competence: ability for analysis of technical designs of roads and squares in oder to make a good choice of type of bearing structure and materials.

11. Cross section. Roadway structure.
12. Road pavement.
13. Technical indicators of route.
14. Explanatory note.
15. Drawings.
16. Complete package of design documents.

Requirements for awarding credit points

Credit test of course Project is passed successfully if unique individual Route design is carried out, as well as conversation on related topic achievs a positive results.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Student is working on individual Route design Project taking advantage for useful advices during tutorials.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

Credits will be enrolled if the student is able to prove his/her knowledge and competence defending an individual design.
