Course abstract

Introduction into Speciality
The course provides an insight into the study process as a study process, aims, tasks and structure of the Latvian University of Life Sciences and Technologies, introduces the LBTU normative documents and study base. The course provides information on the structure and traditions of the Faculty of Forest and Environmental sciences, gives an insight into the history of Jelgava city, LBTU and the castle. Students get a first idea about the specialty of Land Management and its topical tasks, get acquainted with the study plan, get acquainted with the databases of the LBTU Fundamental Library and obtain bibliographic information.

Records management
Students acquire an understanding of document management and the regulatory requirements, document circulation, the document management system and the groups of documents, deadlines for documents, electronic documents and signatures. Students build up an understanding of and skills in identifying differences among the document groups in the document management system, as well as of the requirements for the development and design of documents.

Introduction into Speciality
1. Is able to understand the specifics of knowledge acquisition at the higher school - independent, practical work.
2. Knows and is able to apply LBTU normative acts in the study process - independent, practical work.
3. Is able to use bibliography independently in the study process - independent, practical work.
4. Is familiar with the directions of specialization of land surveying in public and private institutions - independent, practical work.

Records management
1. Demonstrate the knowledge and understanding of the general technical requirements for document layout and the document language - Independent and practical work.
2. Demonstrate the knowledge and understanding of the document management system and the document groups it comprises, the requirements for the development and layout of the documents - Independent and practical work.
3. Design proper document forms and documents, giving them legal force - Independent and practical work.
4. Find, comprehend and practically apply legal provisions for document management - Independent and practical work.
5. Use the document management system and the groups of documents it comprises and identify differences among the document groups - Independent and practical work.

All topics specified for full-time studies are implemented, but the number of contact hours is 1/2 of the specified number of hours

Requirements for awarding credit points

Mark of test work consists of:
• written test paper on the theoretical part of Introduction into Specialty.
• a test on the Record management section
• completed independent work
• received an assessment of practical work

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Study course for acquisition of professional competences. studies of the necessary scientific and study literature indicated by the lecturers (LBTU normative documents, monographs, scientific articles and their collections, materials of conferences and seminars, specialized scientific periodicals).
Preparation of practical work descriptions according to the amount determined by the lecturers.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

1. The test is obtained after the knowledge test in the written part "Introduction to Specialty" and in the "Record Keeping" part of the test at the end of the course and summarizing the results of practical and independent work.
2. After completion of practical work and preparation of its descriptions, the following shall be evaluated:
Introduction into specialty part -
whether students demonstrate knowledge and critical understanding of the specifics of acquiring knowledge at the university, understand and are able to use LBTU normative documents responsibly, whether students have acquired skills to independently and responsibly apply bibliographic materials, as well as
Record management section:
whether students demonstrate knowledge and understanding of different document development and design requirements, are able to independently develop appropriate document forms and documents, giving them legal force, are able to apply the administrative document system and the differences in the development of document groups
