Course abstract

This course includes the necessary knowledge in connection with design, manufacture, assemblage, operation and reconstruction of structures. There is provided methodological bases for assessment of building structures, including determination of material properties and load bearing capacity as well as specific features of experimental research. Various cases of inspection and expert reports and suggestions for reconstruction are analysed. In conclusion, forms and facilities of reconstruction and strengthening are discussed.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledge about rules and methods in technical essessing of building constructions; skills to determine the load bearing capacity of structures and to perform experimental research with evaluation of results; competence to set up, to solve and to analyse research problems in the construction field on the basis of preliminary knowledge and understanding of limit states method.
