The aim of the course is to introduce students with development of road landscape; road landscape evaluation and planning principles; design of roads and squares, road equipment and communications; the latest legislation on traffic organization equipment, protection belts and requirements for road and street red lines.
• Knowledge about roads and streets, road planning in the landscape, design of roads and squares with different covering materials, drainage systems and landscape architecture solutions, traffic organization in populated areas, planning and design of bicycle paths. 2 seminar.
• Skills to carry out road landscape evaluation; road, street and bicycle paths, footpaths and squares design in accordance with the design standards. 1 seminar. 1-6 practical work.
• Competence to analyze the road and square projects, rationally select construction materials; to know the protection belts and special requirements for communication protection and traffic organization equipment installation, to evaluate plants suitable for road landscapes. 2 seminar. 1-6 practical work.
1.Street and road overall description and materials for designing them. Traffic organisation in urban areas. Road development history and road landscape development. 2 lectures, 1st practical work in laboratory groups, 2h
2.Bicycle roads and pedestrian pathway. 2 lectures ,2nd practical work in laboratory groups, 2h
3.Surface water drainage from driveways and pathways, different solutions, calculations and examples. Service areas and parking’s – planning, drainage and cover. Road landscape elements and perception, road landscape assessment methods. Landscape roads, development basic principles. 2 lectures, 3rd practical work in laboratory groups, 2h
4.Study excursion. Positive and negative road and road landscape design practices. Laboratory work 4h
5.Artificial built structures, dykes, footbridges and slopes. Square integration in landscape. 2 lectures, 1st seminar 2h
6.Road landscape planning and composition principles, foreign experience and non-standard solutions. 2 lectures 4th practical work in laboratory groups, 2h
7.Roadbed, parameters of it and cross-profile, calculations. 5th practical work work in laboratory groups, 2h
8.Road long-profile curves, bankings, calculations of them, utilities and traffic organization equipment. 6th practical work in laboratory groups, 2h. 2 seminar, 2h
Class attendance not less than 75%. The developed practical work was submitted on time. For works submitted after the specified time (if there is no justifiable reason), the mark is reduced by 1 point. Positively evaluated practical work. An accumulative test is also possible, the fulfillment criteria of which are determined by the head of the study course.
1 practical work. Survey of design territory, road landscape assessment.
2 practical work. Roadbed, parameters of it and cross-profile, calculation of them.
3 practical work. Road traffic intensity, categories and calculations.
4 practical work. Driveway and pathway cover constructions, road constructive layer solutions for design territory.
5 practical work. Roadbed, parameters of it and cross-profile, calculations.
6 practical work. Road long-profile curves, bankings, calculations of them, utilities and traffic organization equipment for design territory.
1 seminar. Presentation (in PowerPoint) about design territory existing situation assessment. Must be included information about existing road infrastructure and territory elements, traffic intensity, existing trees and greenery.
2 seminar. Presentation (in PowerPoint) about design territory development – road infrastructure and street furniture.
Study course formal test assessment depends on seminar task assessment and study course practical work cumulative assessment.
Practical work and seminar is evaluated according to task evaluating form.
