Course abstract

Graphic techniques and applied materials are mastered in depth in the study course. Graphic techniques are important not only for the overall representation of the landscape, but also for capturing the individual elements in the current situation, as well as for the representation of the designed landscape spaces and elements.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledge: in-depth knowledge of drawing techniques.
Skills: to reflect a landscape using different graphics techniques
Competence: to combine drawing techniques and determine the most appropriate for the specific purpose.
Knowledge, skills and competences are assessed in all mid-term exhibitions.

Third exhibition

Requirements for awarding credit points

100% attendance of lectures. Within the framework of the laboratory works, a literature review on the manifestations of historical styles in modern landscape architecture and significant contemporary architectural objects in Latvia and in the world has been developed, and materials on the significant achievements of modern landscape architects have been developed and presented in the laboratory works.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Students are doing practical works in practical lessons and independently. Each student have to develop following practical works, which are evaluated during exhibition:
1. exhibition:
1. drawing of the first detail of the gypsum casting
2. drawing of the second detail of the gypsum casting
2. exhibition:
1. drawing of the third gypsum casting detail
2. drawing of the fourth gypsum casting detail
3 . drawing of the fifth detail of the gypsum casting
3. exhibition:
1. drawing of complex plaster cast.
2. drawing of a historical park
Five A5 format sketches each week on given topic.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

Formal test grade in study course depends on study course practical work cumulative assessment. Practical work is evaluated in accordance with given evaluation order. Practical works are evaluated in exhibitions.
